Geena was born the 4th of July 1982 and was named Gezina Hofstee. The lead in a christmasmusical was the first time she got on stage to sing. Ever since that moment she hasn’t been able (and didn’t want ) to stop.

Singing lessons
From age 12 to 17 Geena has had classic singing lessons. After that she has had several popmusic teachers.

Popmusic Academy
In 1999 Geena started taking lessons at this private school in Hilversum. “The teachers gave me a totally different view on technique and performance”. In 2001 she graduated and after that she studied for 1 year at the conservatoire in Zwolle. Inside Out “It is such a privilege to be a part of this talented black gospel choir. For the past 4 years I have been active as a vocalist, soloist and composer. “ Inside Out performed, amongst other things, at the eo-jongerendag, which is a big annual event, and April last year we had a duo-concert with Alvin Slaughter. Inside Out also performed at several radio and tv-shows.

Solo
After years of leading worship at the youth church in Assen, Geena decided to spend more time on her songwriting. “It seemed like God gave me little hints to lead me into a different direction. He also gave me a lot of lyrics to work with.” In September 2006 Geena started to be more active as a soloist and in December she came in contact with Marcel Broekman en Theo Janssen with whom she recorded a demo. She mailed this demo to Arjan van den Bijgaart @ record label Ecovata and within a week they had a meeting in which Arjan told Geena that she could record an album.

On the 20th of October the release of this album called “Trust” takes place in a theatre in Weesp. The album is a combination of beautiful ballads and up-tempo songs. With her soulful voice Geena tells her own story.
